I was never going to be a dentist. So I couldn’t save teeth, pull molars, or give out toothbrushes at Halloween.
I was never going to be chemist. So I couldn’t save molecular reactions in my memory warehouse, measure in millimeters, or wear a white lab coat without seeming like an ironic hipster.
I was never going to be a Fireman. So I couldn’t save an old woman from a burning house, a cat from a tree, or be a member of the force that doesn’t meet up at Star Wars conventions.
I am an artist. So, I try and save a bit of what I see, and dress up especially nice at Halloween.
I try to let color infiltrate my life because it comprises the beauty of the natural world. Colors are like people. Each one has a relationship to one another that builds the world we’re in. Each day, each moment, brings about a specificity of light that will never be seen again. It is this moment that I try and capture in my work. In this way I can save the things I see. I am an artist: a collector of time.
